A customised web portal for Dole

Quality control at Dole
Dole is a global importer, exporter and processor of fresh fruit and vegetables. 2makeITwork has been providing Dole with various web solutions for over 10 years and we are a true extension of their IT department. On a daily basis there is contact between 2makeITwork and Dole about the further development of their web portals.
Portal full of quality information
1 of the portals is used for quality control, among other things. Loads of fruit and vegetables are checked on arrival at the warehouse and the quality information is stored in the portal. For each product, Dole employees can retrieve the quality, lab results and Global GAP status.
Unique in the market: selling at pallet level
The special feature of this system is that it operates at the pallet level. Many companies sell by the lot (a large quantity of pallets) and Dole can sell by the pallet with this system. Every customer has slightly different requirements, and in this way Dole can meet its customers’ specific needs exactly. This system has also greatly reduced the number of claims.
Stock management in collaboration with warehouse
The web portal is equipped with a stock-messaging system. Every 15 minutes, employees receive a message with information about the current stock. This way, Dole knows exactly what the warehouse they cooperate with still has in stock.
Order picking per customer
In addition, orders can be automatically picked in the portal. The system compares the quality information for each pallet with the customer’s requirements and conditions, and then recommends a number of pallets that meet them. The seller can then easily sell the recommended pallets to the customer and does not have to manually figure out which pallet is suitable for whom. When the pallets leave the warehouse, Dole receives a dispatch message summarising the pallets sent to the customer. This is an additional control step. If a wrong pallet was picked, it can still be corrected.
